A Continuing Medical Education (CME) session was held on 19th September 2024 at the Conference Hall, District Hospital Senapati, with the participation of doctors, DRP PGTs, and nurses. The session was led by Dr. Apao Remai, the Surveillance Medical Officer (WHO), who covered two important topics:

1. Routine Immunization
2. Vaccine-Preventable Disease (VPD) Surveillance

• Routine Immunization:
  Dr. Apao emphasized the critical role of routine immunization in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. He provided insights into the current immunization coverage, challenges in improving outreach, and strategies to enhance vaccination efforts, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas.

• Vaccine-Preventable Disease (VPD) Surveillance:
  The session also covered the importance of surveillance in identifying and controlling vaccine-preventable diseases. Dr. Apao discussed the surveillance mechanisms in place for tracking diseases like measles, polio, and diphtheria, and how timely data collection and reporting can prevent outbreaks. He further highlighted the role of healthcare professionals in the early detection and reporting of VPD cases.

Participation and Engagement:

The session was highly interactive, with attendees actively engaging in discussions, sharing challenges faced in the field, and seeking guidance on improving vaccination and surveillance strategies.
